COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Colorado School of Mines' Taryn Huber has been named the 2016 RMAC Volleyball Academic Player of the Year.

Already last season's RMAC Summit Award winner, Huber added another academic award to her credit thanks to her stellar play on the court and her 3.92 GPA in the classroom.

Huber is the conference leader in digs per set at 5.42 per game. She has accumulated 363 digs this season en route to double-digit digs in 18-of-19 matches and nine 20-plus dig outings. Huber has also twice been named the RMAC Defensive Player of the Week this season, and is third all-time in the program record books with 1,673 career digs.

A Chemical Engineering major, this is the third consecutive year that Huber has been named to the All-RMAC Academic team, and this is her second first-team selection.

Also named to the RMAC Academic honor roll is junior outside hitter LaRose Currie who has a 3.50 GPA in Chemical Engineering. Currie is currently averaging 2.55 k/s, 2.54 d/s and is sixth in the RMAC with 0.33 aces per set.

To be eligible for consideration, a student-athlete must carry a 3.30 cumulative grade point average and must have been an active student at the institution for at least two consecutive semesters or three consecutive quarters. All student-athletes that meet those requirements, but were not voted to the All-Academic First Team, automatically qualified for the Honor Roll.
