GOLDEN, Colo. - Chadron State overcame an early Colorado School of Mines lead to take their dual meet, 25-15, in the RMAC opener for both teams at Volk Gym.

Mines (1-1) took an 11-0 lead with wins in the first three bouts starting at 149 pounds. Jacob Gerken won 4-2 over Sean Glasgow to start things off, and Ethan Ruby secured a 7-6 decision in the match of the afternoon at 157, using a late takedown to erase a 6-5 deficit against Jake Anderson. Keenan Willits made his season debut a good one as two nearfall-4s in the third period gave him a tech fall over Shaq Bell at the buzzer, 20-1.

Chance Helmick got the Eagles (1-0) on the board with a second-period pin over Robert Gambrell, but Rocky Michaelson answered back at 184 with a 14-3 major decision against Willy Cogdill. Michaelson had four takedowns in the win to put Mines ahead 15-6.

That would be the Orediggers' final points, however, as Chadron State won all five matches after intermission. Matthew Kindler won 10-3 over Brandon Saunders at 197, and Cooper Cogdill was ahead 4-1 before Ian Cheatum suffered an injury default in the second period of their heavyweight bought.

At 125, Brandon Kile took a 4-0 decision from Zachary Gracia, and #10 Taylor Summers sealed the dual with four late points to earn a major decision, 13-3, against Noah Au-Yeung at 133. Jake Woods made his Mines dual debut in an 8-3 loss to Brock Thumm at 141.

Mines will break for finals and the holidays and return to action at home against Simon Fraser Jan. 5 at 7 p.m.
