Associated Press D-II All-America Teams
GOLDEN, Colo. - The All-America awards continue to roll in for Colorado School of Mines football as
Brody Oliver and
Cameron Mayberry have been named to the Associated Press D-II teams.
Oliver picked up his second all-America nod of the day, being named to the AP First Team hours after earning the same honor from the D2 Conference Commissioners' Association. Mayberry appeared on the AP's list for the second straight year, this time as a member of their second team.
Also named an Academic All-American on Tuesday, Oliver had previously been named a D2CCA First-Team All-Region selection, RMAC Offensive Academic Player of the Year, and First-Team All-RMAC this season. In the regular season, he led NCAA Division II in receiving touchdowns (20) and was fifth in receiving yards per game (121.2) and fourth in scoring (12.0 ppg). Oliver compiled 1,339 yards on 73 catches with 21 total touchdowns, and his career numbers were record-setting, with his 59 touchdowns standing as an RMAC record and his 4,010 yards a new Mines mark and second all-time in conference history. He graduates as college football's active career leader across all divisions in receiving touchdowns. His top games in 2018 were a 198-yard, 5-touchdown performance against Adams State in which he tied the NCAA record for touchdowns in a quarter with four; a four-touchdown, 127-yard day at Fort Lewis; and a 174-yard, two-touchdown performance at Black Hills State.
Mayberry, an AP First-Team All-American a year ago, had similarly eye-popping numbers as a redshirt junior. A Harlon Hill Trophy nominee for the second straight season, Mayberry ran for school season records in yards (1,615) and touchdowns (23); the former broke his own record while the latter tied the long-standing mark set by Lloyd Madden in 1939. He averaged 6.0 yards per carry and 134.58 yards per game, rushing for 100+ yards in eight games and 200+ three times. Mayberry scored at least one touchdown in all 12 games this year, including three against CSU-Pueblo, Azusa Pacific, and Chadron State, and tying the Mines single-game record with four on the ground against South Dakota Mines. Also a threat to catch the ball out of the backfield, Mayberry had 26 receptions for 342 yards and a touchdown. Mayberry was also named First-Team All-RMAC, D2CCA Second-Team All-Region, and a two-time RMAC Offensive Player of the Week; he was also a consensus preseason all-American from a number of organizations.
