DIG DEEP TO FIGHT HUNGER!

What is The Oredigger Food Fight?

The Food Fight is a fundraising effort initiated by the Mines Athletics Student-Athlete Advisory Committee
in which donations are sought to raise money and food for those in need in our community.

This fundraising initiative is in support of the Castle of Cans and Holiday Food Drive competition,
in partnership with Greek Life.  Additional information about Castle of Cans and food collection sites
will be available throughout campus beginning November 7 and 8.

The Food Fight is a weighted competition between all 18 Mines Athletics teams,
in which each team will have a donation jar in which patrons will be able to donate change.
As this is a weighted competition, the team with the heaviest jar at the end of the challenge wins.

The idea is for all participants to raise funds rather than goods so the Castle of Cans distribution team
can buy exactly what they need to benefit those in need in our community.

All additional food will be donated to Golden's Christian Action Guild (Food Bank).

When Does the Food Fight Take Place & Where Can Donations Be Made?
November 1-November 30

Beginning on Tuesday, November 1 jars will be availabe at Mines Athletics events as well as at the Student Recreation Center (located at the first floor entrance near the climbing wall)
as well as at the main entrance to Volk Gymnasium.

The Food Fight will be ongoing at the SRC and Volk through Tuesday, November 22
and at Athletics events through November 30.

Jars are available for all to donate to in support of fighting hunger in our community,
but to also support your favorite Mines Athletic team!

How Does the Challenge Work Between Teams?

The team with the most coins/heaviest jar will win the Food Fight.

Weighing of the jars will take place on Tuesday, November 22
with all funds raised to be immediately donated to Castle of Cans and the Christian Action Guild.

The top three teams will be announced at the Basketball Doubleheader vs Regis on Saturday, December 3 at Lockridge Arena.
(Women's Basketball at 5:00 PM | Men's Basketball at 7:00 PM)

What Does the Winning Team Win?

The winning team will receive bragging rights, a team trophy,
and on-court recogntion during the December 3 Basketball Doubleheader.

Why This Initiative?

The Food Fight and Canned Food Drive initiative by Mines Athletics is in support of
the Castle of Cans Holiday Food Drive and Competition
