GOLDEN, Colo. – Taking the pitch at Stermole Stadium in front of their home crowd for the first time in 2026, the Colorado School of Mines men's soccer team played to a scoreless draw with Biola Thursday night. While the offense wasn't able to generate much against a stingy Eagles defense (0-2-1), it was
Noah Hildreth and the defense that answered the call for the Orediggers (0-2-1) against a voracious offense effort by the visitors.
Chances were tough to come by for either side in the opening period, as it wasn't until the 35th minute that Ryan Ellsworth put the first shot on frame of the night with Hildreth recording the save. Mines and Biola combined for nine shots in the opening frame, with both looks for the Orediggers coming in the opening 10 minutes from
Ashish Gurung and
Murray Peart.
In the second half,
Mason Robledo had a look for Mines but missed just left of goal. Biola turned up the pressure with their attack over the final 45 minutes, generating nine shots but having no luck scoring against a stout back line by the Orediggers.
Hudson Waddell made his presence felt with some timely clears and daring tackles to disrupt the Eagles in the closing minutes. With time winding down, Kyle Denn took aim for Biola but was denied by Hildreth as the freshman returned the ball to play with time expiring shortly after with no change to the scoreboard.
