Joe Coors, Jr. Softball Field

Joe Coors, Jr. Softball Field, located at the west end of the Clear Creek Athletics Complex, has seating accommodations for 250 spectators. Located at the base of Mount Zion, the stadium provides one of the most dramatic backdrops in college softball with panoramic views of Mount Zion, Mount Galbraith, and Clear Creek Canyon beyond the outfield fence.

The stadium was extensively redeveloped in the winter and spring of 2018-19 as the original dugouts, press box, and backstop were replaced with new versions, and additions were made including restrooms, field equipment storage, visitor's bullpen, and an umpires' dressing room. The new facility also improved sightlines for fans and added seating behind home plate. A new Daktronics scoreboard was added in right field during the 2018 season as well. The renovated ballpark opened on April 19, 2019 with a 10-6 Mines win over MSU Denver.

In the fall of 2024, further renovations were completed as the natural playing surface was replaced with artificial turf in a project led by alumni Kerry Siggins '01, Kari Gonzales '02 and Kim Alanis '04 MS '05.

The field was named in honor of Joe Coors, Jr. in August 2020 thanks to an anonymous donation in his name to fund the renovation. Coors was a former member of the Mines Board of Trustees and a longtime supporter and fan of numerous Mines Athletics programs.
