GOLDEN, Colo. – The Colorado School of
Mines football program had hired two new assistant coaches and
restructured titles for two others, as announced today by Head
Coach Bob Stitt.
Bob Bodor and Adam Long will begin their first year at CSM in
2010. Bodor will be the Special Teams Coordinator / Defensive
Line Coach while Long will serve as the Strength & Conditioning
Coordinator / Inside Linebackers Coach.
Bodor spent the 2009 season as an assistant coach at
Kapa'a High School in Hawaii where he contributed to the
school's most successful season in 20 years. From
2003-08, Bodor was the head coach at Colorado College (NCAA
Division III). Bodor, who also served as CC's defensive
coordinator and special teams coordinator, led the Tigers to their
best season in 13 years in 2006. Colorado College
discontinued its football program after the 2008 campaign.
Bodor's collegiate coaching resume also includes stints at
Albion College (1998-02), Hartwick College (1995-97), the
University of Pennsylvania (1994), Columbia University (1992-93)
and Johns Hopkins University (1991).
Long worked at an athletic performance facility at North Kansas
City Hospital (2009) prior to his arrival at Mines. Long also
served as the linebackers coach and strength & conditioning
coordinator at Leavenworth High School (Kansas) in 2007 and
2008. During the 2005 and 2006 seasons, Long was the
assistant strength & conditioning coordinator at his alma
mater, Northwest Missouri State University. Long coached the
Bearcats' first NSCA All-American during his time in that
capacity.
Job titles have also been restructured for ninth-year assistant
coach Clement Grinstead and fourth-year assistant coach Kris
Barber. Grinstead, who coaches Mines' running backs, is
now the Director of Football Operations and Recruiting.
CSM's wide receivers coach the past two seasons, Barber is
now the Passing Game Coordinator.
The Orediggers went 8-3 overall last fall (8-1 in the Rocky
Mountain Athletic Conference - second place) to secure their eighth
winning season in the past nine years. The 2009 season marked
the sixth time in program history that CSM amassed eight-or-more
victories. Three of those six seasons have come in the past
six years (2004, 2008, 2009). Quarterback David Pesek, who
was one of 17 Orediggers named to the 2009 All-RMAC teams, was one
of 24 regional finalists for the 2009 Harlon Hill Trophy (top
player in NCAA Division II football). Mines had four
All-American selections in 2009, including Pesek, offensive lineman
Zach Meints, wide receiver Adam Saur and defensive lineman Marc
Schiechl. The Orediggers, who placed nine student-athletes on
the 2009 Academic All-RMAC teams, also had 11 NFF All-Colorado
selections and five Super Region #3 picks last fall.
The Orediggers are scheduled to begin their 2010 season on
Saturday, August 28th, hosting Washburn University in a
non-conference NCAA Division II game at 12:00 p.m. (MST) at Brooks
Field.
