LAS VEGAS, N.M. – Junior Brett Green notched a game-high 22 points to lead the No. 12 Colorado Mines men's basketball squad to an 82-64 conference victory over New Mexico Highlands on Friday evening at the John A. Wilson Complex in Las Vegas, N.M.
CSM (9-1, 5-1 RMAC) notched 42 points in the paint – nearly half its total – to secure head coach Pryor Orser's 100th career Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference victory.
The Orediggers took just a 37-34 lead into halftime, but a 20-5 run through the first 8:38 of the second half helped the visitors get to a comfortable 57-39 lead with 12: 22 to go.
Green recorded his 22 points on 6-of-11 shooting from the floor, including 3-of-6 from downtown, while going 7-of-7 from the foul line.
Trevor Wages added 15 points on 7-of-9 shooting to lead the Orediggers' points in the paint total while also posting a team-high three steals and tying for the team lead with six rebounds.
Chris Goutama posted 10 points of his own on 3-of-5 shooting from the field, including 4-of-4 from the free throw line.
The Orediggers will look to stay on the winning side of things when they travel to Silver City, N.M., for a matchup with Western New Mexico at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday. The Mustangs (3-8, 3-4 RMAC) topped Colorado Christian on Friday evening by a score of 72-59.
