Orediggers place four on Academic All-RMAC teams for softball

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - The Colorado School of Mines softball team placed a total of four athletes on Academic All-RMAC teams as announced today by the conference. Sarah Lustgraaf was named to the first team, Molly Thiebaut to the second team while Lauren Aberle and Jessica Lewis earned recognition on the honor roll.

Lustgraaf, a senior first baseman from Missoula, Mont. (Big Sky H.S.), is Chemical Engineering major with a 3.77 grade point average. A three-time Academic All-RMAC selection, Lustgraaf has earned first team honors the past two seasons. This season, Lustgraaf is batting .338 with 49 hits, 25 runs scored, five doubles, four triples and seven home runs while driving in a team-high 40 runs.

A junior shortstop from Pueblo, Colo. (Pueblo South H.S.), Thiebaut has a 3.46 GPA in Mechanical Engineering. Thiebaut is currently the top defensive shortstop in the RMAC, having committed just six errors in 164 chances (.963). Thiebaut is batting .303 with 44 hits, 39 runs scored, eight doubles, six home runs, 28 RBI and 10 stolen bases.

Lauren Aberle, a junior infielder / oufielder from Fort Collins, Colo. (Fossil Ridge H.S.), has a 3.97 GPA in Computer Science. Sophomore pitcher / infielder Jessica Lewis (Renton, Wash. / John F. Kennedy H.S.) has a 3.46 in Chemical Engineering. Both earned recognition on the honor roll.

The Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference recognizes first team, second team, and honor roll all-academic performers in the sport of softball. The teams were selected by Sports Information Directors at schools in the RMAC that sponsor softball. To qualify for Academic All-RMAC, student-athletes must have a grade point average (GPA) of 3.30 or better, be a starter or reserve, and completed two consecutive semesters or three quarters at their current institution prior to softball season starting. Their cumulative GPA is what they had earned prior to softball season beginning.

The Orediggers (25-20, 22-12 RMAC) currently sit in second-place in the RMAC and 10th in the Central Region. Mines plays a doubleheader at UC-Colorado Springs this evening at 5:00 p.m.
