GOLDEN, Colo. - The Colorado School of Mines softball team bounced back in game two after having its 10-game winning streak snapped as Regis University won game one by a score of 3-0 while Mines earned the split taking game two by a score of 6-1.

Regis used its speed and took advantage of a passed ball in the first inning to grab a 1-0 lead on a sacrifice fly.

Mines had its best chance to score in the bottom of the third as Macy Jones hit a one-out triple but the next two batters grounded out and flied out to end the inning.

The Rangers add to their total in the fourth as Nikki Haberkorn smacked a two-out double to making it 3-0.

Cassie Ford and Paige Coufal drew back-to-back walks with two outs in the bottom half of the fourth inning but again Mines left the runners stranded.

Coufal opened the bottom of the seventh with a double but Regis' Haberkorn escaped the seventh inning to give the Rangers the win.

The Orediggers had just four hits in the game and left seven runners on base as Jones was 2-for-4. Kelly Unkrich was solid dropping to 11-11 on the season allowing three runs (two earned) on six hits with nine strikeouts and one walk.

Mines scored all six of its runs in the first two innings of game two while pitcher Ashley Goletz kept Regis off the base paths.

An RBI triple by Sarah Lustgraaf in the top of the first gave Mines an early 1-0 lead and the Orediggers added five more runs in the second as six straight batters reached base in the inning.

Allysia Cisneros, Jones and Lustgraaf all knocked in runs with singles while Sami Springer hit her 12th double of the season to drive in a run. The fifth run came in to score when Cisneros took advantage of an error by the Regis catcher.

Goletz gave up just two hits through the first six innings before the Rangers got one back in the seventh on an RBI groundout. Goletz improved to 9-7 on the season as she allowed just one run on four hits with four strikeouts.

Lustgraaf was perfect at the plate as she went 3-for-3 with two RBI. Springer and Cisneros were both 1-for-2 with a run scored and an RBI.

The Orediggers (20-19, 17-11) and Rangers will play a doubleheader tomorrow, Saturday, April 7 beginning at 11:00 am.
