No. 18 Regis to Face No. 23 Volleyball On Saturday

GOLDEN – Fresh off its upset of No. 10 Metro State on Friday, the No. 23 Colorado School of Mines volleyball team will welcome another nationally-ranked opponent to town in the form of No. 18 Regis on Saturday at Lockridge Arena in Golden.

The contest is scheduled for a 5 p.m. start.

Mines (7-4, 2-1 RMAC) used a 17-kill performance from junior Melanie Wannamaker to dispatch the 10th-ranked Roadrunners  by a 3-1 final on Friday at Lockridge Arena. Senior Jackie Stabell posted 13 kills and five digs in the match in addition to posting three blocks. 

Danielle Johnson-Hazlewood recorded the set a new career mark with a game-high 47 assists, while also adding 10 digs defensively.
Stabell continues to lead the squad with 137 kills at an average of 3.61 kills per set. Wannamaker follows with 115 and senior Holly Hutchison is third on the squad with 84.

Johnson-Hazlewood leads the offense with 228 assists on the season at an average of 11.40 assists per set while junior Hannah Margheim leads the back line with 143 digs.

Regis (8-5, 2-1 RMAC) fell at the hands of Colorado Christian on Friday in Lakewood by a 3-1 final. Caite Breaux led the team with 15 kills while Katie Klein added 14. The loss to the Cougars snapped a four-match winning streak for the Rangers.

Mines is 10-24 against Regis since joining the NCAA Division II ranks in 1992. Mines has won four of the last five matches in the series, including a pair of victories in 2011. The Orediggers topped then-No. 22 Regis by a 3-1 final in Denver on October 7 before earning a 3-2 win over the then-No. 25 Rangers on October 22 in Golden.
