BOULDER – Junior Seun Ogunmodede did not wait long into the 2013 indoor track and field season to carve his name into the Colorado School of Mines record book as he cleared a program-best and NCAA Division II Provisional height of 6-11 (2.11 meters) in the high jump at the season-opening Potts Indoor Invite, hosted by Colorado at the Balch Fieldhouse in Boulder.

The Castle Rock native bettered his previous career-best of 6-8.75 – achieved in 2010 and 2011 – by 2.25 inches and in doing so, eclipsed the Mines all-time mark of 6-10, set by George Buck in 1985 and matched two seasons later by Jay Wordew.

He and Mark Jones of Colorado tied for first in the event out of nine jumpers.

With the sixth highest jump in Division II and best in the RMAC thus far, Ogunmodede now owns three of the top six results in program history.

The Orediggers continue the invitational tomorrow with the track events scheduled to begin at 10 a.m.
