GOLDEN – Paced by another game-high kill effort from senior All-American Melanie Wannamaker, the No. 18 Colorado School of Mines volleyball team pushed its win streak to nine with a 3-0 win over Fort Lewis on Saturday at Lockridge Arena.

The Orediggers (16-4, 10-1 RMAC) defeated the Skyhawks (5-13, 5-4 RMAC) behind set scores of 25-13, 25-19 and 25-18 for the squad's 10th straight-set victory of the season.

Mines has now won 16 of its last 17 matches and the squad's current nine-match win streak is one win shy of tying the program record of 10 set during the 2011 and 2012 seasons.

The Orediggers will host Western New Mexico in its next match on Friday, Oct. 25. The Mustangs snapped the Orediggers' program record-tying 10-match win streak last season with a 3-2 win in Silver City, N.M.

Wannamaker posted a match-high 14 kills on a .423 attack percentage to lead both teams while adding five total blocks and a pair of digs on the defensive end. Over Mines' 2-0 weekend, the Kingwood, Texas, native posted 35 total kills (5.00 kills per set) on a .462 attack percentage with nine blocks.

She went over 300 kills for the season in Friday's 3-1 win over Colorado Mesa.

Freshman Alanna Winfield followed Wannamaker on the stat sheet with 12 kills on a .259 attack percentage. She needs just 24 kills to eclipse the same plateau and now has 276 thus far during her rookie campaign.

Junior Sarah Pekarek finished with 11 kills and eight digs to narrowly miss another double-double while the freshman duo of Abby Reuland and Samantha Fischer added four kills apiece.

Sophomore Danielle Johnson-Hazlewood added 35 assists, five digs, three kills and two blocks on Saturday, and her 35-assist effort in the win put her over 900 for the season. She averaged 12.57 assists per set over the two-match weekend.

Senior Hannah Margheim led the defensive back line with 12 digs while adding a pair of assists on the offensive end. Junior Cassie Vick added 10 digs for her second match of the season in double figures for the category.

The Orediggers will continue their current four-match home swing next weekend with matchups against Western New Mexico on Friday and New Mexico Highlands on Saturday at Lockridge Arena.

On Friday, selected fans will have an opportunity to win Jimmy John's food for a year.
