COLORADO SPRINGS – After two personal-records yesterday in the first day of the Air Force Outdoor Combined Events Meet, Colorado School of Mines track and field senior Erin Beach recorded three more collegiate-bests on Friday, clinching fourth in the women's heptathlon at the Cadet Outdoor Track and Field Complex in Colorado Springs.

Beach began the morning with a tie for second place in the long jump, bettering her previous collegiate-best by over 10 inches with a leap of 17-10.75 (5.45 meters), third-farthest in school history. She then launched the javelin 65-4.25 (19.91 meters), taking 13th and 287 points, before finishing third in the 800 in 2:32.25.

The Arvada native is the first Oredigger to surpass the 4,000-point mark, topping the previous-record of 3,934 set by junior Kayla Johnson at the 2012 RMAC Championships with an aggregate score of 4,273. Her total ranks 18th-best across Division II and is just 127 points away from the NCAA Provisional standard.

Johnson totaled 3,620 points, good for 11th in the 15-competitor field, while freshman Dallas Hall held on to eighth place in the men's decathlon, scoring 2,413 points.

Brittany Lewis, an unattached competitor from Boulder, used a strong final event to win the heptathlon title (4,905 points), while Kyle Sullivan, also competing unattached, won the decathlon with a 6,483-point total.

The Orediggers close the three-day meet Saturday with the second-annual Air Force Relays. Competition begins at 10 a.m. with the women's hammer throw and men's discus. The remaining field events begin at 11 a.m., while the first running event is scheduled to get underway at 12:30 p.m.
