ST. PAUL, Minn. – The No. 11 Colorado School of Mines volleyball team opened up Saturday's action at the Holiday Inn & Suites Lake Elmo Classic with a matchup against No. 21 Wingate and fell to the Bulldogs by a 3-1 score atr the Gangelhoff Center in St. Paul, Minn.
As was the case on Friday, the Orediggers (0-3) had trouble getting the rhythm going in the first game and fell by a score of 25-16.
The second game, however, saw the squad post a .320 attack percentage and a strong sideout percentage to capture a 27-25 victory.
The Bulldogs would rally to capture games three and four by scores of 25-20 and 25-18.
Mines was led offensively by freshman Alanna Winfield, who knocked down 18 kills on a .359 attack percentage.
Senior Melanie Wannamaker added 17 kills and four blocks on a .324 attack percentage and junior Sarah Pekarek closed out the Orediggers in double-digits for kills with 10 and added a team-high 15 assists for her second-straight double-double.
Sophomore Danielle Johnson-Hazlewood recorded 50 assists and just missed her second-consecutive double-double as well after recorded nine digs on the defensive end.
Senior Hannah Margheim added 14 digs as well, while freshman Taryn Huber and sophomore Corrine Din added eight apiece.
