No. 13 Men's Hoops To Face UCCS, CSU-Pueblo In Weekend Action

GOLDEN – Following its first loss of the season, the No. 13 Colorado School of Mines men's basketball team will look to get back into the win column this weekend when the squad travels to face UC-Colorado Springs and CSU-Pueblo in a pair of RMAC road matchups. 

Mines (12-1, 8-1 RMAC) will face both squads at 7:30 p.m. following the women's matchups each evening. 

Fans that can't see the action live can watch on Comcast Entertainment Television (CET, Xfinity Cable 105) over the following days. The squad's matchup with UCCS will air on Saturday, Jan 18 at 4 p.m., on Sunday, Jan. 19 at 2 p.m. and on Monday, Jan. 20 at 2 p.m. Saturday's matchup with CSUP will air on Sunday, Jan. 19 at 4 p.m., Monday, Jan. 20 at 8 p.m. and on Tuesday, Jan. 21 at 4 p.m. 

The squad saw its 12-game winning streak to start the season come to an end over the weekend in an 86-75 loss at No. 5 Metro State on Saturday. The 12-game winning streak was a new record for the best start to a season in program history. 

The squad opened the weekend with an 87-49 victory over Regis at the Regis Fieldhouse in Denver on Friday. 

Senior Luke Meisch led the team with an average of 18.5 points per game while shooting 62.5 percent from the floor. Fellow senior Trevor Wages averaged a double-double with 15.0 points and 10.0 rebounds per game, while also posting a season-high five blocks in Saturday's loss at Metro State.

Junior Brian Muller added 13.0 points per game and senior Brett Green closed out four Orediggers averaging in double figures with 12.0 points per game. 
Junior Trevor Ritchie led the team with 12 assists at an average of 6.0 assists per game as well. 

The Orediggers are currently second in the nation in field goal percentage (54.1), fourth in scoring margin (21.4), fifth in scoring offense (92.3), sixth in rebound margin (10.6), seventh in free throws made (318), 15th in 3-point percentage (41.5) and 17th in assists per game (17.9). 

The squad leads or is tied for the conference lead in 11 statistical categories as well. 

UCCS (9-4, 6-3 RMAC) enters Friday's matchup having won five of its last six contests. Mines is 9-1 against UCCS over the last 10 matchups, including nine straight victories in the series. 

CSUP (8-5, 6-3 RMAC) enters Friday's matchup with Colorado Christian having won three of its last five games. The Orediggers have won the last five meetings in the series.
