GOLDEN – Colorado School of Mines women's basketball allowed only 15 field goals and earned its largest home win since an 85-57 decision against Western New Mexico on Jan. 3, 2011, swatting Black Hills State 66-40 Friday at Lockridge Arena.

Mines (8-14, 7-11 RMAC) yielded 73 points to the Yellow Jackets in a 20-point loss on Dec. 15 in Spearfish, S.D., but was in full control in the series finale, limiting BHSU (11-11, 10-8 RMAC) to 34.1 percent (15-of-44) shooting and 4-of-16 (.250) three-pointers.

Trailing 8-5 3:22 into the start, the Orediggers went on a 15-1 run and eventually took a 28-12 lead with 5:32 remaining in the first half on back-to-back triples from freshman Laura Tyree.

The Yellow Jackets trimmed the 31-19 halftime deficit to 35-25 4:35 into the second, but Mines would sustain at least a 16-point advantage the rest of the way, posting the final margin on a three-pointer by senior Courtney Gallo with 1:25 left.

Junior Taylor Helbig and Tyree keyed the Orediggers to a 34-5 margin in bench scoring as Helbig had a game-high 20 points, including 4-of-8 threes, and Tyree 12.

Senior Allie Grazulis posted her team-leading eighth double-double – fourth-most in the RMAC – with 17 points on 7-of-11 shooting and game-high 10 rebounds.

The Orediggers shot 24-of-58 (.414) overall and 8-of-22 (.364) from outside, and finished with season-bests in rebounding margin (42-27) and turnovers forced (23), scoring 27 points off the takeaways.

Mines has held three of its last five opponents at home to 46 points or fewer.

The women are home for the final time of the regular season Saturday, hosting Chadron State at 5 p.m. in the team's annual Senior Day.

Seniors Katie Clements, Gallo, Grazulis, Catherine Jimenez and Tory Langas as well as junior Laura Brigham will be honored during halftime of the men's game.
