DENVER – Aided by six extra-base hits, including four that resulted in at least one run, RMAC-leader Metro State turned aside Colorado School of Mines softball, 9-4, Saturday in the series finale at Auraria Field in Denver.

Metro State (25-11, 19-8 RMAC) led 2-0 through one inning on a two-run home run and put the game out of reach with back-to-back three run frames in the fourth and fifth.

Following a second-inning, leadoff homer to right center by Melissa Marshall, Mines (16-25, 12-20 RMAC) went in front 3-2 in the third on a two-run double to left from senior Gianna Duncan.

The Orediggers added a run in the fifth via a sacrifice fly from freshman Rebecca Fallon, scoring senior Courtney Derus, but were retired in order in the sixth and seventh as the Roadrunners took the 3-1 series win.

Marshall finished 2-for-4 with the one RBI and one run to extend her team season-best reached base streak to 16 straight, and Duncan hit 2-for-4 with two RBI.

Freshman Paige Noehring ran her season-best hitting streak to 10 in a row with a two-out single in the second, going 1-for-4.

Derus (1-for-3), senior Morgan Anderson (1-for-4) and freshman Kara Walling (1-for-3) had one base hit apiece.

Sophomore hurler Kristen Prudhomme suffered the complete game loss to fall to 14-19, allowing nine earned runs and 14 hits, while striking out three.

Mines ends the regular season April 26-27 with a four-game set against New Mexico Highlands at CSM Softball Field in Golden.
