GOLDEN – Senior Gianna Duncan capped her first career four-hit game with a game-winning, two-run double as Colorado School of Mines softball rallied from a 5-3 deficit to defeat New Mexico Highlands, 6-5, in walk-off fashion Sunday in Golden.
After an RBI bunt single by junior Cassie Ford brought the score to 5-4, Duncan laced an opposite field base hit to right field with one out in the seventh to score classmate Sami Springer and sophomore Dana Gallegos.
NMHU (11-38, 7-29 RMAC) took its first lead in the top of the inning on a two-run home run to left field by Amber Cordero.
The Orediggers (19-25, 15-20 RMAC) held leads of 2-0 and 3-2 in the first four innings as senior Morgan Anderson opened with a first-inning RBI single; Ford had a run-scoring single in the third and freshman Paige Noehring an RBI double in the fourth.
Duncan was one of four Orediggers with two or more hits in the game, finishing a perfect 4-for-4 with the two RBI.
Noehring equaled her season-high in hits for the seventh time, closing 3-for-4 with one RBI and a pair of runs.
Ford went 2-for-4 with two RBI, Anderson 2-for-3 with one RBI and a run scored and Springer 1-for-4 with one run.
Sophomore Kristen Prudhomme (17-19) recorded the victory, giving up five earned runs on 11 hits and two walks with two strikeouts in 7.0 innings.
