ALLENDALE, Mich. – Colorado School of Mines seniors Tyler Curtis and Neal Anderson saved their best for last on Friday, timing collegiate-bests en route to a pair of All-American finishes in the men's 3000-meter steeplechase at the 2014 NCAA Division II Outdoor Track and Field Championships.

Curtis repeated as the national runner-up, erasing over six seconds off his school record from the Stanford Invitational in April with a time of 8:49.22, while Anderson, a 2012 All-American, placed sixth and reset his PR by nearly 11 seconds in 8:57.60.

The only two in Mines history to run sub-9:00.00, Curtis and Anderson account for four of the program's six All-American honors in the event.

Freshman Patrick Weaver made his outdoor championships debut in the men's 800 prelims, earning an automatic berth in tomorrow's final as the winner of heat one in a season-best 1:50.50 – second-fastest among the nine qualifiers.

Sophomore Garrett Hoch debuted 15th out of 20 in 1:53.05.

The top-eight placements by Curtis and Anderson vaulted the men to fifth place in the team standings with a two-day total of 13.00 points through seven scored events.

Mines concludes the meet Saturday with four events, beginning with the men's triple jump at 4:45 p.m. (EST). The men's and women's 1500 follows at 5:35 and 5:45 p.m., the men's 800 at 6:55 p.m. and the men's 5000 at 8:05 p.m.
