PUEBLO – The No. 16 Colorado School of Mines volleyball team closed out a perfect 3-0 weekend to start the RMAC slate on Saturday with a 3-1 win over CSU-Pueblo at Massari Arena in Pueblo.
Game scores for the match were 25-20, 21-25, 25-18 and 25-15.
Mines (10-1, 3-0 RMAC) has now won seven consecutive matches after suffering its lone loss of the season on Sept. 6 to Augustana College, including a perfect 3-0 mark to start the season in defense of two straight RMAC Championships.
Sophomore and returning All-American Alanna Winfield led the Orediggers with 14 kills on a .189 attack percentage while adding one dig and four assisted blocks on the defensive side. Fellow sophomore and reigning RMAC Offensive Player of the Week Megan Peterson added 11 kills on .233 hitting with three total blocks defensively as well.
Junior setter Danielle Johnson-Hazlewood notched 43 assists and 15 digs for her ninth double-double through 11 matches to start the season. She helped Mines to a .213 attack percentage on 160 total attacks and now sits just six digs shy of tying Amanda Massey (2008-11) for tops in program history for career assists (3,122).
The Cypress, Texas, product and two-time defending RMAC Setter of the Week also added four kills on eight attacks for a .375 attack percentage.
Senior Sarah Pekarek notched nine kills and 11 digs on .171 hitting in addition to two assists and a block assist while sophomore Abby Reuland notched seven kills on .222 hitting with one assist, seven digs and three assisted blocks.
The freshman duo of Mattie Behr and Ellie Monarch notched six kills apiece and contributed eight of Mines' 20 total blocks in the contest.
Sophomore Taryn Huber led the back line with 19 digs and finished second on the squad with five assists after being named the RMAC Defensive Player of the Week on Monday. Senior Cassie Vick and junior Corrine Din each notched eight digs apiece as well.
Mines will open up a seven-match home stand on Tuesday when the squad hosts Western State at Lockridge Arena in Golden at 7 p.m. during Professor Appreciation Night.
