GOLDEN – No. 9/11 Colorado School of Mines men's basketball had all facets working in unison Friday as the Orediggers powered past visiting Regis, 82-52, at Lockridge Arena in Golden.
The Orediggers (12-0, 8-0 RMAC) hit 14-of-23 (.609) in the first half and took an 18-point lead into the break, only to better the clip with 69.6 percent (16-of-23) shooting and 43 points in the second.
Sixth in Division II field goal percentage at the beginning of the night, Mines finished 30-of-46 (.652) from the floor and 6-of-11 (.545) along the perimeter.
The men placed all 12 players in the scoring column, led by sophomore Caleb Waitsman with a game-high 17 points.
Waitsman made 6-of-7 tries, aiding the Orediggers to a 46-20 advantage inside, and grabbed a game-high nine rebounds.
Redshirt sophomore Kaan Korkmaz had a career-best 13 points off the bench, making all four field goal attempts, while junior Joe Dellenbach tied his season-high with 12 and sophomore Gokul Natesan added 12 in 25 minutes.
Kevin Marshall was the lone Ranger in double figures with 10. Regis shot 38.3 percent (18-of-47) and 5-of-14 (.357) outside.
The win sets up the televised battle with No. 10/19 MSU Denver at 7 p.m. on Saturday.
