No. 13/11 Orediggers Blow Past Colorado Mesa, 84-64

GOLDEN – No. 13/11 Colorado School of Mines men's basketball assisted on better than 75.0 percent of its field goals and wore down visiting Colorado Mesa in the latter stages Friday for a convincing 84-64 romp at Lockridge Arena.

Mines (16-2, 12-2 RMAC) steadily grew a six-point margin 4:48 into the second half to 81-56 with 3:12 to play, capping the run with 11 unanswered points in a span of 2:18, including back-to-back triples from sophomore Gokul Natesan.

The men shot 8-of-17 (.471) from distance and 16-of-31 (.516) overall in the frame to end the night 11-of-25 (.440) and 29-of-56 (.518), respectively.

Natesan paced the Orediggers with 20 points by way of 6-of-9 field goals and 4-of-7 three-pointers.

Redshirt senior Brian Muller dropped 18 and freshman Adam Laine had a season-high tying 12 off the bench. Redshirt senior Trevor Ritchie and junior Joe Dellenbach each tallied nine, while Ritchie doled out a career-best and RMAC single-game high 13 of the team's 22 assists.

Ryan Stephan sported a game-high 25 points to lead CMU (14-6, 9-5 RMAC), which was held to a season-low 34.5 percent (20-of-58) shooting and only 6-of-22 (.273) conversions from the perimeter.

Julian Vasquez added 11 and Jerry Duckworth seven.

The Orediggers go for the season sweep of Western State at 7 p.m. on Saturday in Golden.
