How It Hapenned

In a rare midweek match, the 21st-ranked Colorado School of Mines (13-4, 7-2) picked up a nice 3-1 (15-25, 25-22, 25-15, 25-18) victory over its RMAC neighbors Colorado Christian (9-10, 4-5) on Tuesday, October 13 in Lockridge Arena.

After dropping the first set due to a sluggish start, the Orediggers kicked it into gear and got out to lead by as much as seven (20-13) late in the second set. The Cougars finally found their footing and got the lead down to 22-21, but kills from senior Megan Peterson and freshman Janice Jin helped CSM hold out to tie the match at one apiece.

The second set was the last decent set the Cougars would play as Mines upped its game to its usual level and laid the hammer down in the final two sets.

The Orediggers took the third set by the final of 25-15 as Jin drilled five kills on seven attempts and senior Frannie Cormier chipped in four kills and four digs. The fourth and final set saw sophomore Ellie Monarch and Peterson chip in four kills apiece to close out the game with a 25-18 victory.
