How It Happened

Call them the RMAC's top offensive team, the RMAC's top defensive squad… call them whatever you want as long as you call them the outright RMAC Champions! The Colorado School of Mines (11-0-2, 9-0-1) men's soccer program completes its unbeaten RMAC campaign with a 2-0 victory at Adams State (1-10-1, 1-5-1) on Sunday, October 18.

Needing either a win or a draw to clinch the RMAC Regular Season outright, Mines got a goal in each half to ensure there wouldn't be any doubt.

The Orediggers got the party started early when senior Richard Garvey scored an unassisted goal in the 13th minute. That goal was the only one of the half, but was all Mines needed as they were completely dominant with an 11-0 edge on shots and 6-0 advantage on corners.

After the half, Mines would continue to dominate possession and scoring opportunities, but it appeared as though they would have to settle for a 1-0 win until the 76th minute.

Needing more breathing room, Mines made sure the RMAC was theirs when senior Ryan Leach added an insurance goal on sophomore Jackson Shelledy's assist at the 75:38 mark to put the game away.
