Box Score How It Happened
The goals keep coming for senior Richard Garvey as he lifted #7 Colorado School of Mines (12-0-3, 9-0-1) men's soccer to a 1-0 non-conference victory over Adams State (2-11-2, 1-6-3) on Sunday, October 25 at Stermole Soccer Stadium.
In the 59' Garvey drove into the box with an ASU defender squarely in his hip pocket. Garvey gave the defender a little bit a shake-and-bake maneuver to wiggle free and beat Adams State keeper Austin Baumeister to the near post for the game's only goal.
From there it was smooth sailing for the Orediggers as starting goalkeeper Collin Hall wasn't challenged for the 1-0 victory.
While there weren't any goals scored in the first half, the Orediggers were clearly the dominant team in possession, going forward and scoring opportunities. Mines outshot ASU 11-2 and 8-2 on shots on goal. In particular, senior Jared Herselman had a couple of really good scoring opportunities that Adams State turned back.
