How It Happened
Acacia Ortiz's first-half goal stood up as the winner for #23 Colorado School of Mines at crosstown rival Colorado Christian.

The Orediggers (7-2-2, 5-0-2 RMAC) extended their unbeaten streak to eight games against the winless Cougars (0-9-2, 0-6-1 RMAC)

Ortiz's goal was Mines' first legitimate scoring opportunity, and it came in the 28th minute. Left back Holly Weyand boomed a big pass forward to the freshman forward, who took off on a breakaway and beat the Shaya Lawrence to score.

The Orediggers hunted for a second but it never came; Laya Rybicki had perhaps the best shot with a breakaway to force a save by Lawrence, and Devon Dunmire had a pair of opportunities in the second half, including a long-ranger that went just wide to start the half.
