Box Score Gokul Natesan tied his career- and season-high scoring total with 26 points, and #21 Colorado School of Mines had four bench players in double digits to cruise past Evangel 92-75.
The Orediggers (4-1) rode 48 bench points, led by Adam Laine's 13 and Garrett Loew's 11, to beat the Crusaders (1-5). A 13-2 run to start the second half - with 11 of those points coming from Natesan - proved to be the difference maker to turn Mines' 45-34 halftime lead into a nearly 30-point advantage.
The early second-half run ballooned Mines' lead to as much as 28 at the midway point of the period, and Evangel never got back into it. Three-point shooting was key as the Orediggers drained 13 to Evangel's three.
NOTABLES
- Luke Schroepfer drained a career-high 10 points, including three three-pointers. Kaan Korkmaz added 10 points on 3-of-4 floor shooting.
- Natesan had a sterling game all around, shooting 10-for-17 overall, 5-for-10 from three-point range, dishing out six assists, and generating three steals.
- Caleb Waitsman and Loew led the Orediggers with eight rebounds, and Laine had seven. Mines held a 39-32 rebounding edge.
- Mines shot a solid 50.8 percent overall and 41.9 percent from beyond the arc, draining 13 three-pointers. Seven different Orediggers hit a trey.
- Marcus Miller paced Evangel with 17 points.
- Ben Sonnefeld and Zach Rusk each handed out four assists.
