DENVER – No. 13/8 Colorado School of Mines men's basketball scored the game's first eight points and never let up as the Orediggers rolled past Regis, 86-47, on Saturday at Regis Fieldhouse in Denver.
Mines (18-3, 14-3 RMAC) backed 58.3 percent (14-of-24) first half shooting with 50 points on a 64.5 percent (20-of-31) clip in the second, stretching a 12-point halftime lead to as many as 41.
Redshirt senior Brian Muller, one of four starters with 10 or more points, led the Orediggers with a game-high 18 behind 7-of-9 shooting and 4-of-5 threes.
Sophomore Caleb Waitsman posted 17 and seven rebounds, converting 7-of-10 tries, and redshirt senior Trevor Ritchie and sophomore Gokul Natesan each had 13.
Mines shot better than 60.0 percent for the fourth time this season at 61.8 (34-of-55) and held decided advantages in points in the paint (48-26) and points off turnovers (21-4).
Chris Snyder scored 11 off the bench to lead the Rangers (5-16, 3-14 RMAC). Regis finished 17-of-51 (.333) and 2-of-9 (.222) along the arc with 16 turnovers.
The Orediggers remain on the road next weekend, beginning with a 7:30 p.m. tip on Friday, Feb. 13 against Black Hills State in Spearfish, S.D.
