Schneider, Men's DMR Reap All-America Trophies Friday

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Redshirt junior Phil Schneider and the men's DMR each ran to All-American hardware Friday as Colorado School of Mines track and field opened the 2015 NCAA Division II Indoor Track and Field Championships at the Birmingham CrossPlex in Birmingham, Ala.

The No. 4 qualifier in the 5000, Schneider closed seventh out of 16 in the evening final in 14:20.83 for his second track All-American trophy and first during the indoor season.

Freshman Josh Hoskinson, junior Ian Rozier, sophomore Patrick Weaver and junior Marty Andrie capped the day fourth among 11 DMR units in a school record 9:52.28 as four RMAC sides placed in the field's top-six.

Mines owns nine All-America honors in the men's DMR since the event's inception in 2005.

Weaver preceded the relay with sixth place in the 16-runner 800 prelims, advancing to the final on Saturday with an at-large qualifying time of 1:52.03. Senior Garrett Hoch closed his fourth and final trip to the championships and third straight appearance in the 800 in 15th (1:53.98).

Senior Michelle Rigsby made her national meet debut in the long jump, posting a distance of 18-5.25 (5.62m) on her initial run to rank 14th of 20. Classmate Seun Ogunmodede was 11th out of 16 in the men's final at 23-0.0 (7.01m).

Ogunmodede added 14th in the high jump behind a height of 6-7.5 (2.02m).

The Orediggers take part in five events tomorrow, beginning at 10:30 a.m. (MDT) with the men's triple jump.
