No. 25 Roadrunners Hit Past Mines To Sweep Afternoon

GOLDEN – NFCA No. 25 MSU Denver scored in 11 of its 14 at-bats on the afternoon and extended its conference winning streak to eight in a row with wins of 13-3 and 9-3 against Colorado School of Mines softball in Golden.  

Mines (3-24, 1-12 RMAC) rallied for a brief lead in the first inning of the opener on a bases-clearing, three-run double to right center by senior Cassie Ford.

MSUD starter Cassidy Smith settled in to limit the Orediggers to only four hits over the final six innings for the complete game decision.

Junior Elise Dugwyler went 3-for-3 and sophomore Paige Noehring 2-for-4 with a run scored to pace the women.

Ford, junior Dana Gallegos and freshman Sonoma Toot were each 1-for-3.  

The Roadrunners (19-7, 10-2 RMAC) got out to a 5-0 lead five frames into Saturday's finale prior to Mines sending two across in the bottom of the fifth. MSUD put the game out of reach with four behind a pair of two-RBI drives in the ensuing at-bat.

Noehring recorded her second multi-hit line and third of three hits, swinging 3-for-4 with one RBI, one run and a double.

Sophomore Rebecca Fallon was 2-for-3, while Toot (1-for-4), Dugwyler (1-for-3), sophomore Jackie Vasquez (1-for-2) and freshman Brielle Asato (1-for-3) rounded out the nine-hit output with one apiece.

The teams conclude the four-game set at 11 a.m. Sunday at CSM Softball Field.
