NEW ORLEANS, La. – With only two provisional marks last weekend, Colorado School of Mines men's outdoor track and field fell three positions to No. 13 in the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) Division II National Team Computer Rankings.
The men were supplanted by four teams outside the top-10, moving behind No. 12 Shippensburg (93.23 points) with a week-five total of 82.87. Ashland ascended 11 spots to No. 1 with 164.71 points, displacing two-time defending national champion Saint Augustine's (135.47) to No. 2.
Senior Austin Roup and junior Jacob Hollister comprised both provisional efforts at the Colorado Invitational in Boulder, spinning their fourth straight qualifying distances in the hammer throw.
Roup bettered Hollister's program record with the 10th-ranked provisional of 201-00 (61.28m) to place runner-up among 20 mostly Division I competitors. Hollister ended seventh at 187-07 (57.19m).
Sophomore Patrick Weaver paced six Orediggers in the top-10 of the 400, timing fourth of 27 in 48.40. Mines swept the sixth through 10th placements; junior Ian Rozier ran 48.69, sophomore Ryan Morningstar 48.85, sophomore Matthew Drotar 49.17, freshman Hunter Arnell 49.59 and sophomore Michael Lanahan 49.96.
Sophomore Jeffrey Stephens and freshman George Lilly finished 1-2 in the javelin at 193-09 (59.07m) and 165-05 (50.43m), respectively.
The National Team Computer Rankings are a reflection of performances recorded only during the 2015 outdoor track and field season.
The Orediggers are back on the West Coast this week to take part in the world-famous Mt. SAC Relays April 16-18 in Walnut, Calif. as well as the annual Bryan Clay Invitational on April 17 in Azusa.
