AZUSA, Calif. – Colorado School of Mines track and field combined for five additional Division II standards on Friday between the annual Mt. SAC Relays at Hilmer Lodge Stadium in Walnut, Calif. and the Bryan Clay Invitational at Cougar Stadium in Azusa.
Junior Marty Andrie lowered the 14-year old team record in the 5000 at Mt. SAC, becoming the first to run sub-14:00.00 with a seventh-place and No. 2-ranked auto 13:57.29 in the 19-runner section B invite final.
Junior Jacob Hollister attained his second provisional of the trip and sixth of the season in the hammer throw, ending eighth of 23 at 191-08 (58.43m).
Seniors Ben Timmer and Justin Gildemeister posted two qualifying heights in the pole vault to lead Mines at the Bryan Clay Invite; the pair tied for 12th among 54 with launches of 15-7.25 (4.76m).
Sophomore Patrick Weaver timed a season-best 800 provisional to rank fifth out of 116 in 1:50.45 and anchored the 4x400 of junior Ian Rozier and sophomores Ryan Morningstar and Matthew Drotar to runner-up of 14 in 3:15.33.
Rozier placed ninth among 57 in the 400 (48.75), sophomore Michael Lanahan 35th (50.34) and Morningstar 38th (50.44), while junior McKenzie Zeman went 49th out of 79 in the 400 (58.97) and 66th of 116 in the 200 (26.03).
Junior Michelle Rigsby added 11th of 60 the long jump at 18-6.50 (5.65m) and freshman Josh Hoskinson 83rd of 208 in the 1500 in 3:56.52.
The teams conclude the trip on Saturday with the Beach Invitational hosted by Long Beach State at Cerritos College in Norwalk.
