COLORADO SPRINGS – Colorado School of Mines softball could not keep pace with hot-swinging Fort Lewis and Colorado Colorado Springs Sunday, falling 10-2 and 13-5 in five innings in the final games of the three-team pod at Mountain Lion Field in Colorado Springs.
The Skyhawks (16-27, 14-18 RMAC) and Mountain Lions (10-35, 8-23 RMAC) combined for 20 RBI, 23 runs and 27 hits to sweep their respective season series with Mines.
Sophomore Paige Noehring yielded her second and third multi-hit games of the weekend to raise her season total to 18, going 2-for-2 with a two-run single and walk in the opener and 3-for-3 with one run in game two.
Senior Cassie Ford and freshman Pua Fujinaga each hit safely in both contests; Ford went 1-for-3 with a double and 1-for-2 with a walk, scoring twice, while Fujinaga followed a 1-for-2 effort with a weekend-best 2-for-3 line, including a two-out, three-run homer in the seventh.
The Orediggers (10-35, 8-23 RMAC) conclude the regular season with a pair of doubleheaders against New Mexico Highlands April 25-26 in Las Vegas, N.M.
