Hollister, Schneider Win Titles; Men Lead At RMAC Championships

PUEBLO – Junior Jacob Hollister and senior Phil Schneider captured individual crowns as Colorado School of Mines track and field collected six all-conference results Friday at the 2015 RMAC Outdoor Track & Field Championships in Pueblo.

Hollister and senior Austin Roup repeated as First Team All-RMAC in the hammer throw as Hollister defended his 2014 championship among 17 at 198-07 (60.52m) and Roup scored second at 182-03 (55.55m) – the lone provisional distances in the event.

Schneider powered Mines to a sweep of the 10,000 podium – all provisional standards – and its initial points of the meet, claiming the win out of 26 in 31:19.59. Sophomore Nathanael Williams was second in 31:21.87 and classmate Dan Mahoney third in 31:26.24.

Senior Ben Timmer ended fourth of nine in the pole vault (15-3.75; 4.67m) and junior Michelle Rigsby ranked fifth of 14 in the long jump (18-9.25; 5.72m).

The Orediggers advanced three through the prelims of the 400, 800 and 1500.

Freshman Hunter Arnell and junior Ian Rozier qualified 4-5 of 26 in the men's 400 in 49.55 and 49.13, respectively, and junior McKenzie Zeman took sixth among 19 in the women's flight in 57.53.

Sophomore Patrick Weaver earned the fastest time in the 24-runner 800 prelims behind a provisional 1:51.52. Junior Garrett Hoch ran fifth in 1:53.98 and sophomore Ryan Morningstar seventh in 1:54.31.

Junior Marty Andrie was one of 12 to move into the 1500 final, taking seventh among 29 behind a provisional time 3:55.68, while redshirt freshman Hanna Barringer timed 11th (4:57.92) and junior Taylor Baird 12th (4:58.55) to reach the women's championship race.

Freshman Austin Rohrs, sophomore Michael Lanahan, freshman Nate Ramirez and Arnell combined for the seventh-best 4x100 qualifying effort in 42.94.

Through three events, the men hold a sizeable 49-26 lead over Chadron State atop the team standings; the women sit seventh with five points.

Day two of the races begins at 9 a.m. Saturday at the Neta and Eddie DeRose ThunderBowl.
