ALLENDALE, Mich. – Junior Ann Miller became just the third Colorado School of Mines women's All-American in the 3000-meter steeplechase Friday, timing seventh in the 12-runner final at the Division II championships at the GVSU Track & Field Stadium.
Miller lowered her school record by nearly a second to 10:27.21 to hoist her initial career All-American trophy and cap her outdoor championship debut.
The Bartlesville, Okla. native is the team's first to climb the podium since 2010, joining 2004 champion Hannah Davey and Marie Patton on the Mines All-America list.
Sophomore Patrick Weaver ended his second straight trip to Grand Valley State 10th among 19 in the prelims of the 800, narrowly missing a berth to the final by .11 seconds in 1:50.97.
The Orediggers conclude the three-day meet with three men's events Saturday; senior Seun Ogunmodede takes part in the high jump at 12:05 p.m. (MDT), sophomore Jeffrey Stephens debuts in the javelin at 12:15 p.m. and senior Phil Schneider and junior Marty Andrie compete together in the 5000 at 3:25 p.m.
