How It Happened
Jaclyn Knott's 79th-minute goal lifted Colorado School of Mines to a deserved 1-0 win over Texas Woman's University on Sunday.

The Orediggers (2-2) outshot the Pioneers (2-2-1) by a 21-6 margin, but couldn't solve goalkeeper Ariana Morrison until Knott took advantage of a defensive miscue late in the game. Mel Westhoff played a ball forward from midfield that a TWU defender misjudged, and Knott pounced on the opportunity, beating the keeper and another defender at the line with her finish.

Ali Artzberger nearly made it 2-0 moments later, slamming a shot off the crossbar and down inches in front of the line, and Rachael Turner had a one-on-one with Morrison that forced a close-range stop in the closing minutes.

Although TWU was held without a shot in the first half, a period of sustained pressure nearly netted them a goal early in the second half when Nancy Chavez forced a terrific save by Sam Zumbro.
