How It Happened
Colorado School of Mines raced out to a quick start and never looked back, dropping Colorado Mesa 2-0 in their RMAC opener.

Caitlin Kaltenbaugh and Acacia Ortiz provided the scoring touch for the Orediggers (3-2-0, 1-0-0 RMAC) while Sam Zumbro had a five-save shutout in goal.

Kaltenbaugh struck in the sixth minute, finishing off Haley Cole's rebounded shot for Mines' quickest goal of the season. It capped a sustained period of early pressure for CSM, who had four shots and a pair of corners inside of six minutes.

Ortiz doubled the lead in the 29th minute with a 25-yard stunner from Brooke Stoermer's assist, her second goal of the season.

Notables
- Mines' defense was superb, earning their third shutout in five games. Zumbro was tested five times, and the Orediggers allowed only seven shots overall to lead 10-6 on shots. Mines did not concede a corner until the final minute.
- Kaltenbaugh, who leads the team in shots, led the way once again with three attempts on goal.
- Mines recorded 10 shots in total and put eight on goal.
- The pair of first-half goals were CSM's first before halftime this season.
