Nationally eighth-ranked Colorado School of Mines opened up its 2015 campaign in style with a 3-0 (25-17, 25-18, 25-16) shutout of Western Oregon on Friday, September 4 in Lockridge Arena.
Playing in their first game of the 2015 Courtyard By Marriot/Residence Inn Oredigger Volleyball Classic, the Orediggers controlled the action throughout as they got a dominant offensive performance which saw them hit .330 as a team. CSM posted at least 15 kills in each set with a match-high 17 in the final period.
The only set in which the Wolves were really competitive was the second set where they sported an 11-8 advantage, but a subsequent 10-4 from Mines smothered away any momentum that WOU might have had. In fact, the Orediggers closed the second frame on a commanding 17-7 run.
