#16 Western State Tough In Win Over Mines

#16 Western State proved to be as tough as their ranking would indicate as they beat Colorado School of Mines 38-3 in an RMAC dual Friday night.

#6 Paul Wilson earned Mines' lone points with an 11-6 decision over Mick Dougharity at 197 pounds. The Mountaineers earned bonus points in five matches, including three straight pins between 157 and 174 pounds.

The Orediggers (6-2) hung tough in several matches, including at heavyweight where Nick DeBruyn pushed Lewis Arendall to sudden victory before falling 7-5. Lukas Erickson went toe-to-toe with #7 Corbin Bennetts in a 3-0 decision at 141, and Noah Au-Yeung and Jacob Gerken each pushed their opponents in a pair of 4-2 losses at 133 and 149 pounds, respectively.

Mines stays out west Saturday to face #11 Colorado Mesa.
