A monster collective hitting performance gave #16 Colorado School of Mines an easy 3-0 (25-18, 25-7, 25-14) victory over South Dakota Mines & Technology on Saturday, October 1 at Lockridge Arena.
Mines (12-2, 6-0) hit .488 as a team and had five different players hit over .500 for the game as they blasted a struggling Hardrockers (1-14, 0-6) squad.
The Orediggers opened the match simply on fire as they hit .567 as a team and got six kills each from both
Ellie Monarch and
Alanna Winfield while
Marina Hansen dished out 18 assists to easily take the frame, 25-18.Â
While SDSMT hit .423 in the first set to stay somewhat competitive, they had no such luck in the second frame as Mines hit .696 and held the Hardrockers to .095 for a 25-7 blowout.
Janice Jin was 5-for-5 and Winfield was 4-for-4 in the set.
With the game in complete control, the Orediggers emptied the bench in the third set to let everyone get some action. Mines raced out to a 10-2 lead it would never relinquish in lieu to the 25-14 victory. S.D. Mines temporarily closed the deficit to 13-9, but the Orediggers settled back in closed out the match on a 12-5 run.Â

-Â Â Â On a night with multiple incredible attacking performances all around,
Janice Jin led the way with a .857 night which equated to six kills on seven attempts.

Alanna Winfield led the team with 16 kills on 25 attempts with only two errors to hit at a .560 clip.Â

Ellie Monarch had the second-highest hitting on the night with seven kills on .636 attacking.Â

Marina Hansen had a game-high 26 assists while
Taryn Huber and
Delaney Duis each chipped in seven each.
