GUNNISON, Colo. - Ingrid Alvarez's golden goal in the second overtime led Western State to 3-2 win over #3 Colorado School of Mines.
The Orediggers (12-2, 7-2 RMAC) dropped only their second game of the season as the Mountaineers (5-6-2, 3-4-1 RMAC) overrcame a second-half deficit with the last two goals to win.
Jaclyn Knott and
Brooke Stoermer scored for Mines, with
Anna Deleray and
Taylor McRae handing out assists. Knott hit her fifth goal in four games to open the scoring, firing from the top of the box off Deleray's assist at 34:08. Western leveled just before the half when Andrea Grillo put back a rebound.
Mines went ahead in the 58th minute when Stoermer headed in McRae's cross, but the Mountaineers forced overtime when Izzy Engeman broke free and scored at 83:27.
Mines led 2-1 on shots in the first overtime, but Western State won it when Grillo crossed to Alvarez at the top of the box, and she launched a shot to the upper right.
NOTABLES
- Mines led 18-11 in shots and 8-6 in shots on goal. The Orediggers held an 8-0 corners advantage.

- Despite the loss, Mines is assured to stay three points clear at the top of the RMAC table with three league games left to play.
