PUEBLO, Colo. - Goals in each half by CSU-Pueblo halted #3 Colorado School of Mines' hot start in a 2-0 road loss on Sunday.
Despite the loss, the Orediggers (9-1-0, 4-1-0 RMAC) remain tied atop the RMAC standings with Fort Lewis. The Thunderwolves improved to 6-3-0 and 3-2-0 in RMAC play.
Jessica Westhoff's header from Karley Whiteman's corner got them on the board in the sixth minute, and Sandra Grimaldo scored from Westhoff at 55' to make it 2-0.Â
Mines was not without chances as they outshot the Thunderwolves 13-9 and 6-1 in the first half, including a hit post by
Laya Rybicki in the second half and shots on goal from
Acacia Ortiz,
Cari Smith, and
Devon Dunmire.Â
NOTABLES
- The loss ends Mines' best-ever start to a season. The Orediggers won their first nine games for the first time in program history.

Sam Zumbro did not have a save in the loss; Pueblo's Alison Darr had three stops.
- Ortiz was the most active Oredigger with three shots.
Taylor McRae took two.
- Corners were an even 3-3.
- Pueblo has had Mines' number over the past two seasons, winning 1-0 at home and battling Mines to a 1-1 draw in Golden last year.
