CHAMPS! Mines Stakes Claim To Share Of RMAC Title

SPEARFISH, S.D. - #25/24 Colorado School of Mines claimed a share of the RMAC Championship, pounding Black Hills State 83-28 in the regular-season finale.

The Orediggers (9-2) will now have to wait to see if they are selected for the NCAA Tournament. Mines was hurt by Colorado Mesa's win over Azusa Pacific but helped by losses from Truman and Midwestern State; Mines was eighth in last week's Super Regional 4 rankings with the top seven making the field. The bracket will be announced on ncaa.com at 3 p.m. MST Sunday.

Sam Seeton rushed for a career-high 204 yards and two scores to go over 1,000 for the second straight season, Zac Guy crossed 100 yards with a touchdown, and Justin Dvorak threw for five touchdowns – three to Ty Young - on an efficient 14-of-21, 259-yard day while rushing for another score. The Mines defense generated four turnovers, including Drew Stephon's pick-six.

Mines earned a share of its second title in three years and 21st in program history with an historic offensive performance. Mines racked up 717 yards and scored nine touchdowns, and compiled 458 yards on the ground, the second-most in program history.

Riley Hoff caught the first of his two touchdowns to start the scoring, and two rushing touchdowns by Seeton sandwiched around Dvorak's score made it 27-7 early in the second quarter. Guy and Hoff added TD's to end the half up 41-14.

Stephon's pick on the second play of the second half went back 26 yards for a touchdown before Young caught three straight touchdowns to set up a 69-21 blowout. Josh Odom and Cameron Mayberry added late rushing touchdowns for Mines.
