Box Score 1 | Box Score 2
St. Edward's 3, Colorado School of Mines 2 (8 inn.)
St. Edward's scored one in the seventh to tie it, then put two across in the eighth to beat Colorado School of Mines in Saturday's opening game at St. Mary's University in San Antonio, Texas.

In a pitcher's duel between Hallie Smith and SEU's Olivia Burdick and Lauren Slatten, the game remained scoreless until Kara Jones' pinch-hit RBI single scored Dani Valerio put Mines on the board in the bottom of the fifth.

The Hilltoppers answered on their final at-bat, when Shelby Janda reached on a bases-loaded error allowing Kaci Olson to score the tying run. Mines couldn't go ahead in the bottom of the seventh, sending the game to extras. In the top of the eighth, Olson doubled in a pair of runs to lead 3-1, and Mines' rally fell short despite Paige Noehring's RBI ground-out to bring in Kara Wallings.

Smith was the hard-luck loser, going the distance and striking out six while allowing only one earned run. Burdick started and pitched four innings for SEU; Slatten got the win striking out five and not allowing a run. Each Hilltopper allowed two hits.

NOTABLES
- Noehring, Loren Dempsey, Wallings, and Jones had Mines' hits.
- Smith worked well under pressure, forcing SEU to strand 11 batters. The sophomore threw 128 pitches and put 85 across for strikes.
- Noehring and Walling each stole a base.

Lubbock Christian 11, Colorado School of Mines 1 (5 inn.)
The big bats of Lubbock Christian proved to be too much for Mines in their final game of the St. Mary's tournament as the Chaps won 11-1 in five innings.

LCU scored three in the second and eight in the third to build their advantage. Molly Davison's solo home run in the second started things off and Katlin Reed added a two-run single. Mines answered in the bottom half as Pua Fujinaga drove in Dani Valerio to cut the lead to 3-1, but LCU broke the game open their next time up manufacturing eight runs on five hits and an error. Sammie Murrietta's bases-clearing single capped the rally.
