Colorado School of Mines battled against Regis on Saturday, but ran up against a terrific pitching performance in game one before a fierce rally fell short in game two.

Regis won the opener 8-0 in five innings on the back of Nicole Aviles' two-hit gem, and took the second game 10-6 despite Mines bouncing back from an 8-0 deficit after three innings.

GAME 1 - Regis 8, Mines 0 (5 inn.)
Aviles' two-hitter stymied Mines' bats, and Regis pounded out 10 hits to win the opener 8-0 in five innings. Alyssa Finger drove in three with a home run to lead the Rangers, who put four on the board in the first keyed by back-to-back triples by Bradey King and Macy Cox.

Regis extended the lead in the second with hits from Carlie Sexton and Finger, and Finger hit a two-run shot in the fourth to make it 8-0.

Sonoma Toot and Boston Ludlow had Mines' hits, and Kara Jones reached on a walk. Brielle Asato stole a base after reaching on an error late in the game. Maddie Rogers took the loss, allowing three earned in the first; Hallie Smith pitched the balance, allowing four earned and striking out four. Aviles fanned five in the win.

GAME 2 - Regis 10, Mines 6
Regis again got out to a fast start in game two, scoring five runs in the fourth on Nicole Hull's two-run single and Finger's three-run home run. They added another run in the second and went up 8-0 in the third when Finger blasted her third home run of the day.

Mines didn't quit, however, and started to chip away in the fourth when Jones doubled in Toot. That opened the door for a big fifth inning that saw Toot plate Pua Fujinaga, Dani Valerio single in Amanda Etcheverry, and Jones single home Valerio to cut the lead to 8-4. Katie Leiker tripled in Ludlow in the sixth and scored on an error to make it 8-6, but Sexton hit a two-run home run in the bottom half to set the final score at 10-6.

Jones led the Orediggers at the plate, going 3-for-4 with two RBI. Toot, Valerio, Ludlow, Leiker, and Fujinaga also picked up hits, and Asato laid down a sacrifice and stole a base.

Hull earned the win, going five innings and allowing five earned with two strikeouts; Aviles allowed only one hit in two innings of relief to pick up the save. Rogers went the distance and struck out two allowing nine earned for Mines.
