Colorado School of Mines split the second day of its RMAC pod with Black Hills State and Adams State, sweeping the season series versus BHSU before falling in a battle against ASU.

Mines opened the day with a 2-0 win against the Yellow Jackets led by Maddie Rogers' first collegiate win and shutout, but a late rally fell short in a 4-2 loss to Adams State to end the weekend. In the middle game, Adams State beat Black Hills 4-1.

Combined with a split on Saturday, the Orediggers went 2-2 for the weekend and sit at 6-11 overall and 6-6 in RMAC play.

GAME 1 - Mines 2, Black Hills State 0
Maddie Rogers' five-hit shutout propelled Mines to a 2-0 win over Black Hills State on Sunday morning, sweeping their four game season series against the Yellow Jackets.

Mines put runs on the board in the first and third to take the lead. Sonoma Toot led off with a double and later scored on Katie Leiker's single in the first, and Toot padded the lead in the third with another double to score off Dani Valerio's single.

Rogers worked out of trouble several times early, including a bases-loaded jam in the first, but settled in and was superb as the game wore on, striking out five and walking only one. Carlee Beck allowed two earned and struck out two in the loss.

Toot had a terrific game at the plate, going 3-for-3 with two doubles and scoring both of Mines' runs; Valerio, Leiker, Rogers, and Loren Dempsey also had hits, and Valerio sacrificed twice.

GAME 2 - Adams State 4, Mines 2
A seventh-inning rally by the Orediggers fell short as Adams State won 4-2 to go 4-0 for the weekend.

Gabby Griego homered in the first inning, and Morgan Zanski's two-run single in the fourth padded the lead at 3-0. ASU added an insurance run in the top half of the seventh when Griego doubled in Kalin Johnson, but Mines didn't quit. Rogers led off the inning with a single; Brielle Asato pinch ran for her and scored on Boston Ludlow's double, and Amanda Etcheverry scored Ludlow later in the inning on a groundout.

Hallie Smith struck out four in the loss, allowing four earned. ASU combined three pitchers, with Kacee Schroeder earning the win with four strikeouts and no runs allowed in four innings; Kaitlin Hoffman allowed both runs, and Lauren Murphy earned the save with all three outs in the seventh.

Mines was limited to four hits, coming from Kara Jones, Rogers, Ludlow, and a double by Pua Fujinaga.
