KEEP THE CROWN
Off to a 4-0 start, #5 Colorado School of Mines jumps into RMAC play as they begin their title defense against local rivals MSU Denver and Regis this weekend. Mines has won the last three RMAC regular-season and five RMAC Tournament championships. This weekend will feature three of the top four teams from the RMAC preseason coaches' poll. Mines was the favorite with 10 first-place votes, but Regis picked up two first-place nods in third and MSU Denver another in fourth.
MOVING ON UP
After defeating then-#7 UC San Diego on Sunday, Mines inched up a spot to #5 in this week's NSCAA Top 25 poll. It's Mines' highest ranking since the 2015 preseason when they were #4.
DESCAMP EARNS RMAC HONOR
Thanks to her game-winning goal at UC San Diego and some sterling defense,
Kortney DesCamp became the second straight Oredigger to be named RMAC Defensive Player of the Week this season, joining
Emily Townsend. Mines did note yield a goal for the weekend when DesCamp was on the pitch, and she delivered in the 86th minute at UCSD with her first career goal.
EVERYBODY GETS A CHANCE
Mines' nine goals this season have been scored by eight different players, with only
Emily Garnier notching multiple scores.
Emily Townsend,
Giselle Sawaged,
Kortney DesCamp,
Jennifer Kendall,
Taylor McRae, and
Nicole LaTourette have all scored their first career goals over the first two weeks of the season.
LOCK IT DOWN
Mines' defense has been dominant this season, allowing only 0.25 goals and 7.5 shots per game.
Sam Zumbro sports a .909 save percentage in net, while the Mines defenders have also been busy on the other end of the field, combining for five of Mines' nine goals this season.

MINES VS. MSU DENVER AND REGIS
Mines has met MSU Denver more than any other opponent in its history, going 8-7-7 against the Roadrunners in 22 contests. Mines and Metro battled to a scoreless draw in Denver during the 2015 regular season, then beat the Roadrunners 2-1 in the RMAC Tournament semifinals on goals from
Peyton Sanders and
Acacia Ortiz. Mines and Regis will meet for the 22nd time, with Mines holding a 13-8-0 series edge. Mines beat the Rangers 3-2 in overtime last season thanks to
Caitlin Kaltenbaugh's golden goal;
Brooke Stoermer and Ortiz also scored in that game to erase a 2-0 Regis lead.
SCOUTING MSU DENVER AND REGIS
MSU Denver is 1-1-2 to start the year coming off a 1-0 loss at #9 Western Washington and a 1-1 draw at Seattle Pacific. They also played two teams Mines has played, beating West Texas A&M 2-0 and holding Dallas Baptist to a scoreless draw. The Roadrunners have only scored three goals in four games (by Bry Sanchez, Elise Boisnard, and Regina Banks) but have only conceded three as well with Erica Torres sporting a 0.68 GAA and .919 save percentage.
Regis is hunting for its first win at 0-3-1 this season. Like Mines, they made the southern California trip last weekend and fell 5-0 at UCSD and 2-1 at Cal State San Bernardino. Mickie Piechowski and Sade Akindele have each scored twice for the Rangers while Kat Crump has a .522 save percentage and 2.61 GAA.
