GOLDEN, Colo. - A 19-0 fourth-quarter run helped Colorado School of Mines flip a Western State lead into a 71-51 win at Lockridge Arena.
The Orediggers (10-10, 6-5 RMAC) picked up a much-needed RMAC win after trailing 49-48 with 8:45 left in the game. Mines scored 23 of the last 25 points, clamping down defensively while
Emily Bailey scored 15 of her 23 points in that span.
It capped an entertaining game that saw six lead changes and five ties. The two sides traded leads through the first quarter until Mines took control with a 7-0 run, and the Orediggers would hold that lead until the start of the fourth quarter when Western State hit a 7-0 run to lead 49-48.
That would be the Mountaineers' final lead. Bailey's three-point play got Mines the advantage back, and buckets by Bailey,
Paige Husa, and
Laura Tyree put Mines up eight before Bailey hit two threes and a layup sandwiched around another Husa shot. That set the rout at 67-49, and Mines won going away with final baskets by Bailey and Tyree.
