Second-Half Goals Lead #18 Mines At BHSU

SPEARFISH, S.D. - Three second-half goals by #18 Colorado School of Mines keyed a 4-1 win at Black Hills State on Friday.

The Orediggers (12-2-1, 8-1-1 RMAC) were thoroughly dominant in the game with a 40-1 shots advantage, but the Yellow Jackets (0-14, 0-9 RMAC) got a goal on their only shot of the game to make it 1-1 at halftime.

Haley Cole opened the scoring at 16:46, finishing from a sharp angle, but BHSU's Katie Nielson dispossessed a defender and chipped the goalkeeper at 20:35 to make it 1-1. It would stay that way to the break despite a 24-1 Mines shots lead.

Things broke open for Mines in the 54th minute when Cole fed Brooke Stoermer at the top of the box for a nice finish, and the Orediggers tacked on a pair of insurance goals off Emily Garnier corners with Taylor McRae heading home her fourth of the year in the 68th minute and Theresa Osborne scoring the first of her career at 76:05.

Mines had 18 corner chances to none for BHSU.

The Orediggers get Sunday off and return home to finish the regular season on Thursday, oct. 26 against Adams State and Saturday, Oct. 28 versus Fort Lewis.
